AMP & ALP

Introduction

Airport Master Plans (AMPs) are technical documents written from an airport management and operation perspective to guide future airport growth and development. They provide road maps for Sponsors to understand and meet aviation demand through the foreseeable future while preserving the flexibility necessary to respond to changing industry trends. To supplement these Reports, full-size Airport Layout Plans (ALPs) are used to graphically depict the existing and proposed conditions of an airport.

The previous AMP for the Middle Georgia Regional Airport (MCN) occurred in 2015 and was revised in 2022 with a Pen and Ink change. This AMP, which started in 2023, includes the review of prior planning efforts conducted for the Airport, analyzes market conditions and future facility requirements, and presents a full-size ALP drawing set to Macon-Bibb County (i.e., Sponsor). In addition, development guidelines for MCN covers a 20-year planning period (i.e., 2022 to 2042).

ALPs identify areas needed for aviation related development during and beyond the planning horizon. The plan serves as a reference for the Sponsor to evaluate existing and/or future obstruction disposition in conjunction with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) criteria. The ALP set completed with this AMP is the official development plan for the Airport, which may be amended over time to reflect changes in the airfield environment or the demand affecting future facilities.
